About our client

Our client is a global provider of mobile lighting and power solutions with more than 34 years of industry experience. The company holds exclusive distribution rights in Australia for Perkins Engines and FG Wilson, supplying equipment, parts and aftersales support to the mining and resources sector.
Headquartered in Perth, the business designs, engineers and assembles lighting towers, generators and diesel engine solutions, producing up to 1,000 lighting towers each year. Operations are supported by established supplier relationships across the UK, China, India and Singapore, with a workforce primarily focused on service and operational delivery. Safety, customer service and continuous improvement underpin the way the organisation operates.
The Sydney branch has 15 employees and now needs a leader who can focus on operational standards to elevate safety and bring structure to daily operations.  This is an opportunity to take ownership of a branch, influence how work is carried out and build credibility in a business with national reach.

About the opportunity

This is a hands on leadership role with responsibility for safety, service delivery, team leadership, customer engagement and branch performance. You will lead a team of seven direct reports across technicians, parts and administration, while splitting your time between the office and workshop. This role is central to setting the standard, keeping work moving and ensuring the team has direction throughout the day. There are opportunities to develop into a broader service leadership across other branches.
In this role, you will:
  • Lead branch safety standards and daily compliance across office and workshop activities
  • Provide technical direction on generators, light towers, engines and repair work
  • Drive branch profitability, budgets, quotations and tender coordination
  • Build customer relationships and identify new service revenue opportunities
  • Manage work-in-progress, parts flow and team accountability across the branch
To achieve these outcomes, you will work closely with technicians and parts function, respond to customer enquiries, review job progress, confirm parts requirements and maintain a visible presence on the workshop floor. This role suits someone who wants to build a career path.

About you

You are a proven leader with trade-based technical credibility, you will know how to set expectations, hold people accountable and keep standards in place without losing sight of output, safety and customer needs. You are also comfortable working with autonomy in a hands-off but supportive management structure, where initiative and following work through matter.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
  • A trade qualification in either in electrical or mechanical
  • Demonstrated experience servicing generators, light towers, Perkins engines or related mechanical equipment or Deisel construction and industrial engines
  • Experience of Health and Safety processes and procedures and implementation
  • The ability to work between office and workshop and lead from the front
  • Commercial understanding across branch profitability, budgets and tenders
  • The ability to manage work-in-progress, customer enquiries and service delivery
  • A current driver’s licence
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment medical

What’s on offer

This role gives you the chance to take charge of a branch. You will have scope to influence safety, service standards, team performance and customer outcomes. For someone who wants impact, the value here is clear: you will not be stepping into a maintenance role, but into a position where your decisions will shape branch performance and your results will be visible. You will also join a business with a national footprint, established product lines and a defined path beyond the branch.
The role offers a competitive salary, company vehicle, laptop and phone, along with structured onboarding and the support of a manager focused on removing operational roadblocks.
