Job Description

Seven Corp on behalf of Greenstyle Nominees Pty Ltd Atama Furniture is a Western Australian owned business, which has been operating for nearly 40 years wholesaling quality furniture to the commercial sector. Specialising in providing furniture to the Aged Care, Government, Education, Accommodation and Healthcare sectors in projects of all sizes, we now seek a suitably experienced person to join our logistics and supply chain team. Atama Furniture requires an experienced professional to fill the role of a Procurement Manager to undertake procurement and logistical functions in ensuring the on-time delivery of all of our customised commercial furniture.

Reporting to the Company Manager, you will be experienced in procurement and supply chain management, with the ability to build processes and develop policy from the ground floor up. The Opportunity The Procurement Manager will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of procurement and supply chain activities within an international and local manufacturing and reseller environment.

This role ensures the timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials, components, finished products and services, in alignment with on-time delivery and project demands. This role will focus on risk mitigation, supply chain optimisation, and the development of strong supplier relationships. In addition to day-to-day purchasing functions, this position also includes involvement in long-term planning and strategic supplier management.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Procurement Leadership; to develop and implement procurement strategies to optimise costs, mitigate risks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Purchasing; to monitor end-to-end systems and processes for purchasing functions at a site level.
  • Sourcing; Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans aligned with organisational goals and procurement policy.
  • Accounts Payable Management; General oversight / review of accounts payable activities relating to purchasing, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices.
  • Supplier and Contract Management; Oversee the onboarding, ongoing maintenance and offboarding of suppliers.
  • Risk and Compliance Management; to ensure all procurement and purchases payable activities comply with company policies, industry regulations and ethical standards.
  • General:
  • End-to-end management of procurement / logistics for purchasing from international and local suppliers.
  • Utilize financial management skills to monitor procurement budgets, track expenses, and produce actionable reporting to support data-driven procurement decisions.
  • Establish networks and working partnerships with key suppliers.
  • Actively lead supplier contract strategy, development, negotiations and contract execution in conjunction with the company manager.
  • Purchase a wide variety of goods within authorised expenditure levels and ensure on-time delivery at the highest quality and standards.
  • Day to day involvement in all the Procurement-Logistic activity within the business to ensure efficient management of procurement and logistics service and business targets.
  • To coordinate with all value chain stakeholders and suppliers to deliver high quality procurement and logistic needs, including technical input with design requirements and specifications (if required) to ensure requirements are clearly defined, communicated, and satisfied.
  • Drive cost savings and efficiency improvements by analysing procurement and logistic data and implementing best practices.
  • Proactively prevent and manage supplier defects with each supplier, including the appointment of independent international quality control measures as required.
  • Maintain an approved supplier list.
  • Market Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, industry advancements, and shifts in supply and demand to make well-informed purchasing decisions.
  • Budgeting and Cost Management: Oversee procurement budgets, monitor expenses, and strive to optimise costs while upholding quality standards.
  • Contract Negotiation: Bargain for favourable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers, ensuring that contracts are precise, enforceable, and in line with organisational goals and in compliance with applicable standards.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and address potential risks in the supply chain, such as disruptions, quality issues, shipping, and regulatory compliance concerns.
  • Leadership: foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Supplier Performance Assessment: Regularly evaluate supplier performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Keeping all stakeholders informed about deliveries.
  • Prepare any damage reports and submissions required for insurance recoveries.
  • In conjunction with the warehouse supervisor and Atama Project Managers, monitoring and ensuring the supply of goods / materials are maintained to meet project / job requirements and any items damaged are replaced.
  • Develop and deliver procurement plans.
  • Conduct spend analysis and market research to find innovation and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Document the requirements for an effective procurement framework incorporating strategy, governance, organisational interface, people, process and technology.
  • Developing and providing reporting of procurement activities to the company manager and director.
  • Lead supplier selection, RFPs, and negotiations to secure optimal outcomes.
  • Track and report on category and supplier performance.
  • Advising on procurement strategy, risk, and efficiency.
  • Acting as the strategic interface for complex sourcing events.
  • Supporting continuous improvement.
  • Defining and leading key supplier relationships to deliver breakthrough performance in cost, service, and quality, including technical input to negotiations on strategically significant contracts.

Selection Criteria:

  • Qualification in Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field, along with extensive experience in procurement, sourcing, and supply chain management.
  • Multilingual capabilities, including Portuguese, to strengthen cross-border supplier relationships, particularly with Lusophone regions.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in a procurement role with the ability and knowledge to establish a procurement function from the ground up.
  • Experience in operating within a manufacturing setting is a mandatory requirement for this position, given the niche experience and knowledge that will be required around direct sourcing of products and services.
  • Experience with supplier development, negotiation, and risk mitigation strategies, will be key to the success of this position.

Any experience in a commercial furniture environment would be beneficial.

  • Training in Project Management.
  • Knowledge of international and Australian commercial furniture market.
  • Availability to travel as required for trade shows / QC inspections for large projects.
  • Attention to detail.
  • High level interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships and influence effectively.
  • Office suite (Excel advanced) and Outlook.
  • Conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
  • Demonstrated high-level commercial acumen, including the proven ability to drive optimal business results, cost-savings, and efficiencies.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing impactful initiatives and process improvements that enhance efficiency, compliance and customer experience.

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday – Salaried full-time position with flexible hours (minimum 38 hours per week plus reasonable additional hours as needed). Remuneration: $85,000 to $100,000 per annum + superannuation.
