The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a critical participant in the administration of justice within Western Australia, providing an independent and effective criminal prosecution service and confiscation practice.

The ODPP is seeking experienced staff to provide high level support for operations within The Legal Practice Support Branch. This branch provides clerical and administrative support across a range of teams at the ODPP. This can be across Trial Teams, Children’s Court, Listings, Data Entry, Appeals, Confiscations and general prosecution support areas.

Legal Practice Support Officers provide a range of administrative and clerical support to the ODPP including for legal and paralegal officers in the preparation and management of the ODPP’s administrative files, prosecutions and confiscation cases. This includes demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and the ability to be organised, and complete clerical tasks accurately and efficiently in a high‑volume environment.

Legal Assistants operate as a whole team support resource, undertaking a range of general clerical and administrative duties to support prosecutors and paralegals in day-to-day office functions. This includes demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), strong word‑processing skills, and the ability to be organised, and complete clerical tasks accurately and efficiently in a high‑volume environment.

To be successful in either role, applicants will need to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated administrative and clerical support, with a strong emphasis on customer service to ensure key deliverables, and business requirements are maintained.
  • Ability to be an effective team member, and foster working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a courteous and professional manner, when communicating both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team setting, including listening to other team members, and contributing positively to shared goals.
  • Familiarity working with case or document management systems, including demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated personal work practices that reflect a positive and organised approach to work, including effective time management.

There are currently three (3) Legal Practice Support Officer positions available for immediate appointment, with the possibility to offer fixed term contracts to backfill internal resources. There is currently one (1) Legal Assistant position available for immediate appointment, with the possibility to offer fixed term contracts to backfill internal resources as per operational requirements.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a recruitment pool. This pool will run for a period of twelve months and may be used to fill other similar permanent and fixed-term full time and part time vacancies if they arise and subject to business needs

In the course of your duties, you will encounter materials including, however not limited to, photographs, videos, written statements, and oral evidence.
