(Sr.) Business Development Manager – Energy Storage (BESS)

Role Overview
An exciting opportunity for an experienced (Senior) Business Development Manager to join a growing renewable energy platform expanding its presence in Australia.
This role will focus on advancing a portfolio of utility-scale battery energy storage (BESS) projects, managing project development activities, and building strong industry relationships across the Australian energy sector.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting project development and acting as a bridge between local stakeholders and international teams.

Key Responsibilities

Project Development & Pipeline Management

• Manage and progress an existing pipeline of utility-scale BESS projects
• Support project development activities including site identification, feasibility studies, and development planning
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure projects progress through key development milestones

Stakeholder & Industry Engagement

• Develop and maintain relationships with:
  • Landowners
  • Local councils and planning authorities
  • Transmission and network service providers
  • Development and investment partners
• Support stakeholder engagement and community consultation where required

Commercial Development

• Identify and evaluate new development opportunities in the energy storage and renewable energy sectors
• Support commercial negotiations with project partners, consultants, and stakeholders
• Contribute to project strategy and commercial structuring

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with technical, project management, and finance teams
• Coordinate with external advisors, consultants, and engineering partners
• Support communication and coordination between local operations and regional leadership teams

Key Requirements:
Experience

• 8–12+ years of experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or energy project development
  • Experience working on utility-scale projects, such as:
  • Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Solar or wind projects
  • Transmission or grid infrastructure

Skills & Expertise

• Strong understanding of the Australian energy market
• Experience progressing project development pipelines
• Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
• Ability to work in a hands-on and entrepreneurial environment
