I'm working with a large Government department to find a Cloud Engineer.

This is an initial 12 month contract with 2 x 12 month extension options, and can be based in either Canberra or Adelaide.

You will be working within a team of technical specialists and will be instrumental in designing, delivering and managing Cloud data pipelines and solutions to meet Legislative requirements, ensuring they meet the highest standards for performance, security, and digital accessibility.
You will work with multidisciplinary teams involved in delivery project outcomes and play a key role as an SME for the solutions that reside on the AWS Cloud Ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience delivering production data solutions in AWS.
  • Hands‑on experience with DynamoDB and relational databases.
  • Experience with Parquet, Delta Lake, and Apache Iceberg.
  • Proficiency in Java (Maven), Scala, and Python.
  • Strong experience with Apache Spark.
  • Proven delivery of end‑to‑end data pipelines (ingestion to curated outputs).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or AWS CDK).
  • Strong knowledge of AWS security principles.
  • Experience with DevOps/GitOps, including CI/CD and version control.
