Job Type: Part time or Contract. 

ACT Out Therapy is a mental health support clinic that was created to support clients of all ages and abilities. We feel passionately about supporting all clients using a neuro affirming and trauma informed lens in addition to offering families support through parent consultations, parent coaching sessions or parent and carer group support. ACT Out Therapy offers individual, couples, parenting, family, and group support options, as well as offering family therapy with the purpose of either assessing readiness and/or supporting family reunification when safe to do so.  

Working at Act Out Therapy offers clinicians the opportunity to be part of a warm, child-centred environment that prioritises connection, creativity, and meaningful therapeutic relationships. The service focuses on play-based and developmentally appropriate approaches to support children and families experiencing emotional, behavioural, and mental health challenges. Clinicians are encouraged to work collaboratively, think creatively, and tailor interventions to each child’s unique needs. Act Out Therapy provides a fulfilling workplace where they can make a genuine difference in the lives of children while being supported to grow professionally within a compassionate and values-driven team. 

About the Role:
  • Provide individual therapy to children and adolescents, including those with ASD, ADHD, and other neurodiverse profiles.

  • Support clients across a range of ages, including toddlers, kids, teens and adults.

  • Collaborate with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure consistent and holistic care.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech therapy or a related field.

  • Registration with relevant professional body (e.g., AHPRA, ACA, PACFA, etc.).

  • Demonstrated experience supporting neurodiverse individuals.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Warm, empathetic, and flexible therapeutic style.

Desirable Skills:
  • Experience or training in Play therapy, art therapy, or other creative modalities.

  • Experience or training working with parents and family systems.

  • Trauma-informed practice.

  • Neuro-affirming practice.
