Resilience and Emergency Planning Officer

• Commencing salary from $95,603 per annum + 12% Superannuation

About the opportunity:

Council is seeking a highly organised and motivated professional to join our Community Development team as the Resilience & Emergency Planning Officer.

Reporting to the Team Leader Community Development, you will play a key role in strengthening our community’s ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and natural disasters. This dynamic role involves working closely with community members, local organisations and key stakeholders to identify local risks and needs, while delivering initiatives aligned with Council’s Resilience Plan.

You will also provide vital support to Council’s Local Emergency Management Coordinator (LEMC) during and following emergency events, helping to ensure effective coordination, communication and recovery efforts. To succeed in this position, you will meet the following criteria:

• Diploma, degree, or equivalent qualification in community development, social sciences, emergency management, or related field, with at least two years relevant current work experience.
• Ability to work flexibly, including out-of-hours as required.
• Current Class C Driver’s Licence and Working with Children Check.
• Demonstrated experience leading community resilience, emergency planning and or community development programs and activations, including planning, delivery, and evaluation.
• Proven ability to manage projects through the full project lifecycle, including budgeting, reporting, stakeholder coordination, and meeting deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with internal teams, external agencies, and community stakeholders to achieve collaborative outcomes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports and plans, presenting to diverse audiences, and providing clear guidance to teams and community groups.
