St Rita's College, located in Clayfield, Brisbane is a leading independent Catholic secondary school currently educating over 1200 girls from Years 5-12. St Rita's College has an outstanding reputation as an inspiring, nurturing educational environment for young women. 

Applications are invited for a Maintenance Officer to work within a team of four staff who maintain the structural integrity and beautiful surrounds of the College campus. This hands-on role would suit a trades person with diverse maintenance experience and skills. Regular working hours are Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 2:30pm; however, the role also requires availability after hours by phone for security call-outs.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Responding promptly to range of recurring maintenance and handyman tasks including but not limited to inspecting and clearing building gutters, changing light bulbs, classroom inspection on a regular basis and carrying out minor furniture and fitting maintenance, painting, concreting and minor electrical and plumbing work, tiling

  • Facilitating venue setups and the movement of equipment and furniture for meetings and events as required

  • Proactively identifying, managing and reporting any risks or hazards on campus. 

  • Acting as the College bus driver to safely transport staff and students to and from College events. 

ABOUT YOU:

We are looking for people with:

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair and maintenance.

  • Experience in event setup and functions is advantageous.

  • Good computer literacy skills 

  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage work with attention to detail

  • Good communication skills

  • Manual licence and Working at Heights preferred. 

  • A Light Rigid licence and ability to act as the College bus driver preferred. 

  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements and compliance with a strong safety focus would be advantageous.

  • Please note that some aspects of this role may be physically demanding and can involve heavy lifting. A good level of physical fitness is essential to perform the duties safely and effectively.
