As one of Australia’s largest homelessness service providers, we support individuals and families through accommodation, crisis responses, financial assistance, community connection and specialist referrals.

Why this role matters As an Intake & Crisis Support Worker, you will provide after-hours assessment, crisis intervention, housing information and referral support to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness across Victoria.

You’ll work collaboratively with internal Salvos programs and external partners to ensure each person receives coordinated, person-centred care. Reporting to the Program Manager, this is a permanent part-time position, 36 hours per fortnight, based onsite in St Kilda, VIC. This role requires availability for afterhours and weekend shifts.

Available Roster Week 1 Thursday- 4:30 pm till 11:00 pm Saturday - 10:30 pm till 8:30 am Week 2 Tuesday - 10:30 pm till 8:30 am Friday - 10:30 pm till 8:30 am Compensation is in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 5. How you will make an impact Conduct intake and assessments to understand risks, vulnerabilities and immediate needs Provide crisis intervention, emergency relief and short-term support Create safety, support and action plans responsive to immediate risk Offer housing information, advocacy and referrals to community and specialist services Support clients to connect with long-term services and community programs Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in SAMIS Build strong professional relationships with partner agencies Uphold TSA’s commitment to child safety, LGBTIQA+ inclusion and culturally respectful practice What you will bring Tertiary qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field (minimum Diploma) Experience within homelessness, crisis response or similar social services Strong communication and emotional regulation skills under pressure Commitment to trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred practice Confidence using digital systems and maintaining clear documentation Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment Current Employee
