The Position

Scotch College has an exciting opportunity for a passionate specialist teacher to fulfil the role of Inclusive Education Teacher in our Middle School. This is a permanent part-time (0.8 FTE) position commencing during Term 2, 2026.   

Reporting to the Head of Inclusive Education (Years 6 – 12) and working in a high functioning team in the Middle School, this position will help develop, deliver and monitor effective teaching and learning programs to students in Years 6 to 8 who have been diagnosed with a Specific Learning Disability (SLD) or who are struggling to access the curriculum. Through both classroom teaching and monitoring, the IE teacher will provide advice and curriculum support, as well as actively oversee that reasonable adjustments have been made to enable students to access the curriculum. This position requires a strong focus on continuous communication with students, parents, teachers, and health professionals to ensure the best possible academic outcomes for students.  

Our ideal candidate is an exemplary and committed practitioner with the ability to engage and motivate students and promote personal development. Possessing appropriate postgraduate qualifications are desirable but not essential.  

Ideally, the successful candidate will have:  

  • Demonstrated teaching experience within Inclusive Education settings.

  • Strong understanding of how students with a range of Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) learn, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and language-based learning difficulties.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based interventions, strategies, and learning tools that support students with diverse educational needs.

  • Experience administering standardised assessments (e.g., YARC, Progressive Achievement Tests, MultiLit diagnostic tools) and using data to inform targeted intervention.

  • Experience delivering evidence-based synthetic phonics intervention programs (e.g., MultiLit, Sounds-Write, or similar).

  • Proven ability to consult, collaborate, and communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and staff from a wide range of backgrounds.

  • Competent digital literacy skills, with the ability to use technology to enhance teaching, learning, and data tracking.

  • Experience participating in funding applications at State and Federal level (NCCD)

  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team, sharing expertise and contributing to a positive, supportive learning environment.
