POSITION PURPOSE

The Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution and successful delivery of complex GIS projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time, to scope and within budget. This role requires an experienced background in project management, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of GIS\IT project delivery and processes. This position requires the delivery of multiple projects simultaneously and will support the General Manager – Project Operations to deliver projects and shape, influence and monitor project management practices, governance and resource planning. This role will also support continuous improvement to achieve revenue and utilisation targets while maintaining high client satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.

  • Own and monitor project progress and adjust as necessary to ensure successful delivery. 

  • Manage, monitor and influence project budget, track expenses and ensure financial objectives are met.

  • Influence the project lifecycle, methodologies and tools to deliver project outcomes.

  • Provide financial and project reporting to senior management.

  • Assemble project teams, plan their allocation to ensure optimal utilisation, lead and guide the project team to achieve project success.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring their needs and expectations are met. Facilitate regular communication and updates with stakeholders. 

  • Communicating and working with stakeholders to foster relationships that drive client satisfaction and partnership with our clients.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation.

  • Identify, assess and mitigate issues and risks, remove barriers and ensure compliance with project management and governance best practice and frameworks.

  • Ensure that delivery is in accordance with the contract requirements.  

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in delivering small to medium (<$500K) and/or large (>$500K) projects within the GIS Or IT Industry. Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects

  • Strong understanding of GIS (including Esri products) or Information Technology fields is desirable.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to think strategically and make informed decisions. 

  • Strong understanding and application of project management methodologies.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and stakeholder management skills.

  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Experience with remote teams and virtual collaboration tools 

  • Excellent project management skills, including proficiency with project management tools. 

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Information Technology, Geospatial Science, Geography, or a related field is desired.

  • Recognized certification in PRINCE2, PMP or other project management methodology.

 Key Performance Indicators

  • Achievement of project delivery targets (scope, time, budget).

  • Client satisfaction scores above agreed thresholds.

  • Contribution to strategic initiatives and operational improvements

  • Satisfactory achievement of areas of responsibility by KPI measurement plan.
