About The Role The Salvation Army’s Moneycare service is seeking a skilled and compassionate Financial Counsellor to join the team in Karratha. This role provides high-quality financial counselling to individuals experiencing financial difficulty or hardship, supporting them to build financial resilience, improve wellbeing and navigate complex financial systems. Working within a relational, community-centred model, the Financial Counsellor delivers casework, advocacy, education and ongoing assessment. The role also provides mentorship to Financial Capability Workers and contributes to continuous improvement, service development and community engagement. This is a meaningful opportunity to support a regional community where financial counselling services are highly valued and where your work can create lasting impact. Pay is in accordance with the SCHADS Level 5 Award. How You Will Make An Impact Provide financial counselling to community members experiencing financial hardship or seeking to prevent financial difficultyBuild strong, respectful relationships that promote self-determination and participationDevelop holistic, community-member-centred case plans aligned with TSA’s Practice FrameworkConduct ongoing assessments and maintain accurate, timely case notes and data in SAMISAdvocate on behalf of community members with creditors, service providers and external agenciesSupport community members to access services, strengthen community connections and build financial resilienceMentor and support Financial Capability WorkersIdentify risks, service gaps and opportunities for service improvementParticipate in team meetings, supervision, professional development and quality improvement processesContribute to a positive, collaborative and culturally safe workplace What You Will Bring Hold the Diploma of Financial Counselling and accreditation, or be currently completing the Diploma and progressing toward accreditationExperience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those for whom English is not a first languageKnowledge of local Aboriginal communities and culture (or willingness to learn)Strong money management, negotiation and advocacy skillsAbility to meet deadlines and manage competing prioritiesExperience supporting people experiencing crisis or complex challengesHigh-level communication skills, including written, verbal and digitalA current driver’s licence What We Offer Remote Area Housing Benefit for employees living and working in Karratha (up to $31,800 tax free)Relocation assistance of up to $5,000 for eligible employeesEntertainment Benefit ($2,650 tax free)Flexible working arrangementsEmployee Assistance Program – confidential counselling serviceFinancial, retail and lifestyle discountsDiscounted health and fitness programs through Fitness PassportUp to 8 weeks of leave per year through our purchase leave schemeGenerous parental leave (12 weeks)Up to 5 days paid leave per year to support a TSA program or activityA supportive, inclusive culture with passionate and dedicated team membersThe opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a regional community How To Apply To apply, please submit a resume and cover letter outlining your experience, qualifications and suitability for the position.
