The Job: We have a genuinely rare opportunity for a great team player to fast-track their career and make their mark with a leading role in the company’s high performing finance team. In this role you will work closely with the Johns Lyng Group to verify financial obligations are met, including compliance with legal and any financial risks are effectively communicated, managed and mitigated.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the preparation of financials in to Group monthly and half yearly board reports and presentations.
- Oversee the accurate recognition, tracking, and reporting of Work-in-Progress (WIP) across all construction projects.
- Prepare and present WIP reporting and analysis to senior management to support informed operational and financial decision-making.
- Take an active/lead role in financial planning including the annual budgeting process and monthly rolling forecasting – this involves working extensively with stakeholders to provide support, advice and guidance as required.
- Undertake periodic systems & control reviews to check and ensure compliance and recommend changes to effect optimal commercial outcomes.
- Be the relationship manager and key point of contact between individual stakeholders and the Accounting & Finance Team
- Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow position to ensure adequate liquidity to meet operational, project, and capital requirements.
- In collaboration with the Team, lead and take responsibility for the internal financial reporting
- Review & take responsibility for assigned accounting ledgers
- Review of monthly Group accounting consolidation
- Leading and managing a team of two to deliver a range of Admin and Accounts functions
- Maintain ownership of the integrity and accuracy of the company’s balance sheet through regular reconciliation and review.
- Approvals, certifications and payments (Accounts Receivable) and maintaining an accurate financial record.
- Liaise with auditors and other external stakeholders as required
Skills and Qualifications: - Accounting or Finance degree, together with at least 3–5 years’ experience in financial/cost/project accounting role or a similar role, preferably within the building and construction industry.
- A proactive, hands‑on approach with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Proficient knowledge of residential and/or commercial construction processes, commercial obligations, including legal and regulatory requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, together with a high level of knowledge and experience with industry relevant technology tools, equipment and applications
- Previous knowledge of managing implementation new EPR system would be an advantage
- High level of planning and organisational skills, together with an eye for detail.
