Job descriptionThis role forms part of the national financial reporting team, supporting the business and clients in the application of accounting standards and other financial reporting regulatory requirements. You will work closely with Partners, Managers and other staff members from multiple parts of the business, leading 2-3 financial reporting specialist topic areas and helping to work through complex technical accounting issues, review financial statements for disclosure compliance, develop and provide training to teams on new developments and common issues as well as develop publications for internal and external consumption. This role can be located in Melbourne or Sydney The RoleProvide formal consultations on the application of accounting standards/regulations to specific transactionsLead specific technical accounting subject matter focus group (e.g. leases, including service concession arrangements, public and private not-for-profit, Australian financial reporting requirements)Undertake pre-issuance reviews each reporting period – review of financial statements for compliance with disclosure and accounting requirements relating to material itemsWork hand in hand with audit engagement teams in their pursuit of target clientsLead strategic direction and implementation of department strategyActively participate in executive decision making for the team, including prioritise group-wide resource allocations and projects, create opportunities for team members, recruit new secondees, business model decisions, budgetingEngage teams, instil confidence, and coach/mentor people to find meaning in their work and achieve exceptional results Experience RequiredAdvanced experience with the application of International Financial reporting standards and/or Australian Accounting Standards (leases, including service concession arrangements, public and private not-for-profit, Australian financial reporting requirements would be advantageous)Advanced research, analytical and problem-solving skills - capability to analyse and interpret complex information and provide solutions/options with detailed reasoning of risksExceptional professional judgment skills, encompass a high level of expertise, critical thinking, and sound decision-making capabilitiesNaturally inquisitive and driven by opportunities for continuous learning and technical developmentFriendly, professional attitude, pro-active, self-starter with a collaborative team player approach
