We are now seeking a skilled Hospital Administration Officer – Billings to join our dedicated team.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to become a key member of our administration team. Reporting to the Executive Manager – Finance and Administration, you will play an essential role in supporting patients, clinicians, and internal teams through accurate billing processes and clear financial communication.

Working within a small, collaborative team, you will contribute to all aspects of hospital administration while taking the lead on patient billing functions. Your work will directly support our commitment to transparency, safety, and exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

As the Hospital Administration Officer – Billings, you will:

  • Manage all incoming patient accounts, including preparing accurate Informed Financial Consents, cost estimates, and online eligibility checks.

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, health funds, and Medical Practitioner rooms.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and accurate documentation of patient records.

  • Collaborate closely with the broader administration team, including theatre bookings staff.

  • Uphold Herston Private Hospital’s values, fostering a positive, ethical, and patient‑focused culture.

  • Contribute to financial performance strategies.

  • Support process improvement initiatives and change management activities.

  • Assist in implementing and monitoring activities aligned with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS), with a focus on quality, safety, and risk minimisation.

Mandatory Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in hospital administration, specifically in patient billing, accounts, health fund claiming, and contract interpretation.

  • Strong knowledge of patient management systems, billing platforms, and electronic document record systems.

  • Well‑developed analytical, reporting, and problem‑solving skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Understanding of private hospital accreditation processes.

  • A friendly, proactive and positive attitude.
